Liontrust boss John Ions is bidding to push through a takeover deal for the embattled Swiss manager as its CFO departs

The chief financial officer of embattled Swiss fund manager GAM Sally Orton is leaving the firm as it attempts to finalise its takeover by Liontrust.

Orton, who has only been in post since August last year, will hand over to ex-CFO Richard McNamara, after indicating now is "the right time for her to pursue the next stage of her career", GAM said in a statement.
