Senior City figures have called for a UK sovereign wealth fund as a way to kick-start the country’s stock market and bolster the economy.

Several countries including Norway, China, Saudi Arabia and Singapore have long-established sovereign wealth funds investing in a broad range of areas. Heavyweights in the UK financial sector believe the UK should follow suit.
