Gatherings of six allowed as government eases virus lockdown

UK government announces easing of lockdown measures in England, including allowing groups of up to six friends or family to meet up

Boris Johnson has announced that groups of up to six friends and family will be able to meet outdoors in public or in private gardens as the UK prime minister eases lockdown restrictions in England.

The new measures, which will be in place from Monday, mean people in England will be able to enjoy garden parties and barbecues, and came as Johnson announced that the government had satisfied its five tests for controlling the virus.
