One of Britain’s most famous restaurateurs has launched a desperate appeal to London mayor Sadiq Khan and Square Mile business leaders to “stand up” and rescue the hospitality sector from Covid-19.

Martin Williams, chief executive of Gaucho and M, voiced dismay at the lack of intervention by local authorities as three lockdowns put the City’s restaurants on course for the worst year ever.
