Geocapital Partners, the US venture capital firm, has strengthened its UK-based European team with the appointment of Henry Allen as general partner.

For the past three years Allen was president and chief executive of GE Capital's European commercial finance business, which he built up almost from scratch. Under his direction the division grew from a one-country operation to one that covered six European countries with a staff of more than 600.
