Gender diversity ‘woeful’ in private equity, says Blackstone credit chief

Some of the industry’s biggest names have launched programmes specifically aimed at redressing the diversity imbalance

A senior Blackstone Group executive has weighed in on the gender equality in finance by describing the proportion of women employed in the buyout industry as unacceptable.

“The levels of diversity across the industry today are woeful,” London-based senior managing director Paulo Eapen said during an interview at the EY London Alternatives Symposium this week. “At Blackstone we may be slightly ahead, but the numbers are still at a woeful level.”
