The head of Germany’s audit regulator Apas has been dismissed with immediate effect, after he admitted to buying and selling shares in failed payments firm Wirecard while in confidential talks about the company.

Ralf Bose told German MPs on 10 December that he had bought and sold Wirecard shares in April and May this year, while talks were being held between audit watchdog Apas and financial regulator Bafin over the company.
