DG Bank is set to merge with fellow German co-operative bank, GZ-Bank, just a week after it said it would create an investment banking division.

When DG Bank announced its intention to create the division last week, a spokesman said it would wait for the results of the talks between the co-operative banks before giving any firm details about how the investment banking operations would be structured.
