German finance minister Peer Steinbrück has put hedge funds on the agenda of next June's Group of Eight developed nations meeting, to be held in Germany.

Steinbrück told delegates at a banking conference the G8 will discuss how to increase the transparency of hedge funds, according to the Wall Street Journal. He underlined his aim was limited to discussing how to increase transparency, not passing new regulation aimed at hedge funds.
