GFI reports $20m job cut charge

US interdealer broker reports restructuring costs of $20m as it slips to $3.2m loss in 2011

GFI Group, the New York-based interdealer broker, said today that job cuts and other restructuring had cost it $20m in the final three months of last year, as the firm was severely hit by thinner trading volumes.

The broker is understood to have cut up to 4% of its worldwide broker headcount during the period, as reported by Financial News last month.
