GFI, the US-based interdealer broker, is considering a float on the New York Stock Exchange as one of its options for expansion.

Micky Gooch, GFI chief executive, said: "We are positioning ourselves to be an IPO candidate. It's one of the options we are looking at to raise new capital as we enter the next stage of growing the company. An IPO has to be a serious possibility for us."
