Outspoken City campaigner Gina Miller has called for chancellor of the exchequer Rishi Sunak to review Andrew Bailey’s appointment as governor of the Bank of England because of the perceived failings of the Financial Conduct Authority, where he has been chief executive since 2016.

Bailey is set to take over from Mark Carney at the Bank of England next month. But Miller today demanded an independent review of Bailey’s appointment, with her True and Fair Campaign group publishing a report entitled Asleep at the Wheel.
