Vocal anti-Brexit campaigner and businesswoman Gina Miller has called on the UK government to move quickly on legislation and regulation of online crowdfunding platforms after a man set up a fundraiser to “hire a contract killer to kill” her.

The fundraising page was created by Barry Aslam on GoFundMe, an American for-profit crowdfunding platform, in April 2019. Miller reported the page to the police in October 2019 and Aslam was arrested on 3 February 2020.
