Gina Miller, the prominent City investor who successfully challenged the UK government over its decision to trigger Article 50 without first seeking parliamentary approval, has submitted an application to launch a new political party.

The 56-year-old, who with her fund manager husband Alan co-founded SCM Direct in 2009, has lodged documents to the Electoral Commission to register the True & Fair party in England and Wales.
