Global asset management M&A deals surpass $50bn for first time in a decade

LSEG, which compiled the data, says rising costs, regulatory pressures and rapid shifts in technology have contributed to asset managers seeking tie-ups

According to LSEG, the value of global M&A deals across the fund management industry so far this year has only been exceeded twice since its records began in the 1970s

A spate of deals across the asset management sector this year has driven the value of global M&A transactions in the sector to its highest level in more than a decade.

Data provided exclusively to Financial News by the London Stock Exchange Group shows transactions worth $50.8bn have been struck between January and July — an increase of 76% on the same period in 2024.
