Global M&A activity falls 47% in 2002

Global mergers and acquisitions activity dropped 47% by value this year compared to 2001, according to research by KPMG Corporate Finance.

The number of deals fell by 24%, putting deal volume at a seven-year low, the report found. So far there have been 17,414 M&A deals this year with a total value of $996bn (€974bn).
