Goldman brings in Japanese heavyweight

Goldman Sachs has hired Shigemitsu Sugisaki, former deputy managing director at the International Monetary Fund and the Japanese securities watchdog agency, as vice-chairman in Japan, six months after being targeted by the country's authorities for lapses in internal controls.

Sugisaki worked at the IMF from 1997 to 2004 during the Asian currency crisis.
