Goldman promotes ECM 'grandmaster'

This week's departure of James McMurdo to Deutsche Bank sparks three senior promotions at Goldman Sachs in London

Goldman Sachs has handed Alasdair Warren, its head of equity capital markets, convertibles and equity derivatives in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, a new role running its financial sponsors group in the region, and appointed two senior bankers to replace him.

Warren, a well-known figure in capital markets, described by one source close to the bank as an "ECM grandmaster", will take over financial sponsors in Emea, according to a memo seen by Financial News. Goldman Sachs confirmed the contents of the memo.
