Goldman Sachs staff are hedging their bets on the outcome of this year's US presidential elections by backing both sides equally. Employees at the bulge-bracket bank have emerged as by far the biggest corporate backers of the Democrat and Republican campaigns.
Goldman employees, individually and through pooled funds, have put $3.65m (€3m) into the elections so far in this campaign and the money going to each main party is split down the middle. Goldman Sachs staff have given $1.86m to the Democrats and $1.79m to the Republicans, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a non-partisan organisation.
