Goldman Sachs has hired Gerhard Baumgard, a 48-year old mergers and acquisitions banker from JP Morgan, as a managing director in chemicals and pharmaceuticals coverage.
The move is part of a determined effort by Goldman to expand its operations in Germany. Although jobs have been cut elsewhere in the world, the bank has been a net hirer in Germany. "Germany is one of the fastest-growing regions in the world for Goldman Sachs," said the investment bank.
