Technology has become central to the growth plans of investment banks, which have been trying for years to make themselves into friendly places to work for those with coding and other digital skills.

The banks’ latest weapon in the recruiting battle with the tech giants is that, with the rise of ‘quants’ or ‘strats’, talented coders have greater opportunities and the chance to wield more influence inside their firms than ever before.
