Goldman Sachs has brought in a media relations expert from an Italian insurance company to run communications in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Matthew Newton has joined the US bank as head of communications in the region after four years at Generali in Milan, a spokesman for Goldman Sachs confirmed. He replaces Fiona Laffan, who left in December 2016 after eight years to become group corporate communications director at Lloyds Banking Group.
