A lawyer-turned-restructuring expert who was among a handful of Morgan Stanley investment banking staff in Europe to be promoted to managing director last year has left the bank to join its Wall Street rival Goldman Sachs.

London-based Clinton Ray, a former Clifford Chance employee who has been with Morgan Stanley since March 2007 and was promoted to MD in January 2015, is on gardening leave before joining the UK restructuring team at Goldman Sachs in August, according to people familiar with the matter.
