Goldman taps Deutsche ahead of Warsaw opening

The US bank is following its rivals with the opening of an office in the Polish capital, as banks eye a raft of privatisation mandates in the country

Goldman Sachs has made a senior hire from rival Deutsche Bank as it prepares to open an office in Poland, a key criteria for investment banks looking to pick up potentially lucrative mandates from the country's government.

Miroslaw Urbański will work in Goldman Sachs' securities division in Warsaw once it receives regulatory approval to open up an office in the Polish capital, according to a spokeswoman for the bank.
