Sophie Christiansen is gearing up for Rio. The five-time Paralympic gold medalist has taken unpaid leave from her technology job at Goldman Sachs to take part in the 2016 games, which start on September 7.

Having employees take time out to compete in the Olympics is not unusual for Goldman, which has at least seven former Olympians in its ranks. Two medal winners from the London 2012 games work in the bank's securities division: Annie Panter, a London 2012 bronze-winning Team GB hockey player, and rower Rob Williams, who picked up a silver in the same games.
