Goldman's youngest ever partner retires

Eric Mindich, head of strategy at Goldman Sachs, the US investment bank, is to retire at the end of the year, two months after John Thornton, former co-chief operating officer, stepped down.

Mindich is leaving his post almost a decade after being appointed the youngest partner in the bank's history, just six years after graduating from Harvard. As head of the equities arbitrage department, he built up the company's principal strategies business.
