The UK government has picked veteran City investment banker Charles Donald to help manage its crisis-era financial assets — including its 71% holding in Royal Bank of Scotland.

Donald, vice chairman and head of UK advisory and corporate broking at Credit Suisse, was named as head of the financial institutions group — formerly UK Financial Investments — within UK Government Investments on Friday.
