Government reports lowest rate of Covid tracking in week of highest infections

The percentage of people reached by contact tracing schemes fell to its lowest in six months, despite cases spiking

NHS Test and Trace said it only reached 68.6% of people who had come into contact with a positive coronavirus case in the week to 30 September, its lowest weekly percentage since the scheme began almost six months ago.

The latest figures, published on 8 October, came at the same time as weekly Covid-19 cases reached their highest since the scheme started in May.
