UK Treasury shells out £4.6bn in grants to help businesses during third lockdown

Furlough is being extended until April, while retail and hospitality businesses will receive 100% business rates relief

The Treasury is making around £4.6bn available in one-off grants to businesses to help them weather the increased lockdown restrictions until the spring.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak said the grants will be made available to businesses in the worst-affected sectors of retail, hospitality and leisure, worth up to £9,000 per property. These businesses will also receive 100% business rates relief.
