Grasso led NYSE cost-cutting ahead of $140m payout

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has reported a sharp rise in profits for the first nine months of this year, thanks largely to cost-cutting measures.

Dick Grasso, former chairman and chief executive of the NYSE, presided over aggressive cost-cutting in the months leading up to his controversial $140m (€115m) pay-out and resignation.
