Greenhill & Co, the boutique investment bank that last week raised $102m (€80m) for its first US venture capital fund, has moved quickly to target the other side of the Atlantic with the hire of a managing director to launch its private equity business in Europe.

Brian Phillips joins Greenhill as a managing director in London from Legal & General Ventures.
