The growth of passively managed funds slowed to a near stop in the second half of 2000, following a reduction in the number of manager appointments as well as a fall in indices.
According to a survey by journal Pensions & Investments, worldwide passive assets stayed flat in the six months to December at $2.3 trillion (€2.5 trillion) and were up just 1% compared with the previous six-month period. Around two-thirds of the total surveyed by P&I remains within the US domestic asset bracket.
