Goldman Sachs Asset Management has poached Mark Allen, a head of cash sales at Barclays Global Investors, to head up its own cash sales operation for the UK and Ireland amid a drive to boost its presence in the institutional market in Europe.

Allen has worked for Barclays Global Investors for three years focusing mainly on cross-selling to corporate customers of Barclays Capital, the group's investment banking arm.
