Private equity veteran Guy Hands accused the Conservatives of putting the UK economy “on a path to be the sick man of Europe”, heading for an International Monetary Fund bailout.

In an interview on BBC Radio 4’s agenda-setting Today programme, the founder, chair and CIO of the private equity firm Terra Firma said that without a Brexit renegotiation carried out by somebody with intellectual capability, “the economy is frankly doomed”.
