London-listed fund manager New Star Asset Management was set up in 2000 by John Duffield, who, together with company's directors and staff, sold 16% of the group in April.

The sale was the first time that Duffield had sold shares in the company since New Star's flotation on the London Stock Exchange's junior Alternative Investment Market in November 2005.
