Bill Hambrecht, founder, chairman and co-chief executive of WR Hambrecht, the bank that developed the electronic auction system for initial public offerings, is launching a venture capital fund.

Hambrecht Geneva Ventures is a $50m (€40m) fund that will invest in early-stage technology companies, primarily in the software sector.
