Private equity firm HarbourVest is making plans to chase a still largely untapped source of capital for the industry: individual high-net-worth investors.

More of them want to put money into alternative assets, according to surveys run by the wealth managers who handle their assets. This is especially the case for private equity, which has long been the preserve of big institutional investors.
