Hawkpoint, the independent corporate finance advisory firm, has hired Hugh Elwes, a director at Deutsche Bank, to its financial services team.

At Deutsche, Elwes was a director working on UK and South African coverage and European mergers and acquisitions. He was involved in setting up the German bank's South African financial institutions team. Between 1996 and 2000 he was based in Johannesburg. He first joined the bank through Morgan Grenfell in 1985.
