Hawkpoint to help EFM assess options

Hawkpoint, the UK corporate finance boutique, has been hired to conduct a review of Edinburgh Fund Managers' operations, which could lead to a sale of all or part of the fund manager's assets.

Charles Williams, head of financial services at Hawkpoint, has been working with EFM for a few weeks, but the appointment became formal on Thursday. The boutique has never worked for the fund manager before. An EFM spokesman said it was too early to say what would happen: "We have an open mind as to whether Edinburgh Fund Managers remains independent…but we are not up for sale now."
