Fund groups HBOS, St James’s Place and Invesco have been singled out for managing tens of billions of pounds worth of investments that have consistently failed to generate market-beating returns over the past three years.

According to a biannual list compiled by online investment platform Bestinvest, the three groups are managing £16.8bn in underperforming assets among them across 13 funds.
