John Owens, one of Scotland's most prominent UK institutional investment marketers, has left Aberdeen Asset Managers only 18 months after joining to spearhead global institutional sales.

Owens joined Aberdeen from Aegon Asset Management in February last year. He was brought in to develop new institutional business globally. Since his arrival, Aberdeen has acquired Murray Johnstone, the UK fund manager with established business in the US, and three property fund managers.
