Heathrow tells airlines to stop selling tickets as passenger surge overwhelms airport

The airport said its assessment is that it cannot handle more than 100,000 passengers per day

Heathrow said it started recruiting in November in anticipation of capacity improving, and by the end of July it will have as many people working in security as it did before the pandemic

Heathrow on 12 July said it is asking airlines to stop selling tickets, as it struggles to cope with a recovery in demand.
