Hedge fund billionaire Chris Hohn: ‘Asset management industry is a joke’ on climate change

High-profile hedge fund manager argues that it will become the norm for companies to submit regular climate action plans to a shareholder vote

Sir Chris Hohn, the billionaire founder of TCI Fund Management, said his firm's ESG policy recommends that asset owners, such as pension funds, fire all asset managers, who don’t adopt a policy of insisting on a serious climate action plan.

Billionaire activist investor Sir Chris Hohn has slammed asset managers for failing to be more active on the climate emergency — particularly within funds that claim to prioritise environmental, social and governance (ESG) concerns.

“ESG for most asset managers is a total greenwash and investors need to wake up and realise that their asset managers talk but don’t actually do,” said Hohn.
