It's been a year to forget for many hedge funds. Many managers have been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons after seeing performance dip and investors redeem money from funds. But how did the big names fare?

Overall, hedge funds have lost investors money on average in 2016, with just a few trading days to go. Funds in the market-tracking Lyxor Hedge Fund Index lost 0.5% in the year to December 15, though there have been some signs of performance picking up towards the end of the year.
