Hedge funds are facing secular changes

It is perhaps not surprising that the hedge funds that have done so well out of exploiting inefficiencies in the financial markets are themselves in one of the most inefficient corners of the securities industry.

What is more surprising is that, while pensions funds and regulators have invested so much time and money squeezing the inefficiencies out of the brokerage and investment banking industry, they have shown little interest in such a glaringly obvious target as hedge fund fees.
