Hedge funds are on the hunt for talent spotters.

The stream of skillful traders that flowed out of investment banks as they closed prop desks in response to new regulations - most notably the Volcker Rule in the US - is starting to dry up. This means hedge funds are having to work harder to identify their next crop of money makers.
