The hedge fund industry produced its first positive performance for six months in September, as more evidence emerged that top funds are shrugging off difficult trading conditions to offer handsome rewards to investors and managers.

Among leading London hedge funds to prosper this year are Newfinance Capital Partners, London Diversified and Ferox Capital. All were set up by former traders from JP Morgan.
