For Morrissey, early Newton success paved way for wider recognition

News Analysis: It would be remiss to forget Helena Morrissey's initial success steadying the ship at the £52 billion fund manager

Helena Morrissey’s influence in the UK financial sector transcends asset management. But it has been her success as CEO of Newton Investment Management for the past 15 years that set her on the path to becoming one of the most prominent women in the City.

Newton is now a reliable performer in BNY Mellon Investment Management's stable of boutique managers - the firm was this month among the nominees for FN's Asset Manager of the Year award in the sub-£100 billion category - but Morrissey stepped up to the role in 2001 when the outlook for the firm was rather different.
