Hellman & Friedman closes $3.5bn fund and opens in London

Hellman & Friedman, a twenty-year-old San Francisco buy-out house, has become the latest US private equity firm to set up a London office after holding a $3.5bn (€2.84bn) final close on its fifth fund.

Patrick Healy, one of the firm's twelve managing directors, will head up the London office and hopes to have hired six investment executives by the end of the year.
