Policy proposals such as a trillion-dollar stimulus package for Covid relief, an environmentally focused agenda and a crackdown on Big Tech promise to make President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration a volatile day for US stocks.

Biden is expected to sign a number of executive orders, memorandums and proclamations on 20 January following the morning ceremony, having already announced several of his plans from the transition team.
